Overview
LanguaFlash is a flashcard program designed to help you learn your language quickly and easily.
LanguaFlash has features to score your progress and will even give you a
list of words that you need to study more.
I originally started development on this application while I was learning Swahili in Tanzania East Africa.
I couldn’t find anything that had the features that I wanted, and having some experience in programming,
I started developing my own software. As I used it, I added features and fixed bugs to turn out
a user friendly program.
It wasn’t until my fellow language learners saw and used what I had developed, that I, at their suggestion,
considered offering it to the public. I put a bit more time into it, fine tuning some grizzly aspects
and touching up the interface in my spare time while teaching English to local school students.
Concept
The basic concept of this application is that you can put words into lists
and then study one specific list or as many lists as you want. You can have one
word in multiple lists, and the score of that word will be the
same in all lists. LanguaFlash keeps track of your progress and shows you flashcards as it follows
your learning progress.
If you want to work on a list a second or third time, you can reset the progress score and start over
again. All the while, LanguaFlash is keeping track of how well you are doing on every word
and can give you 25 words that it thinks you need to practice. As I discovered, while
learning Swahili, memorizing a word isn’t a once and done deal; it takes time and review. LanguaFlash
aids you in all this so you can focus on your language, not on what to study next. |
